What would happen if you lost your business data tomorrow?
Most businesses do not think about backup until they need it.
A member of staff might delete the wrong folder. A laptop could be lost or stolen. A server might fail without warning. Ransomware could encrypt your files, or a fire, flood or power problem could damage the equipment in your office.
The important question is not simply whether you have a backup. It is whether that backup is working, contains everything you need and can be restored quickly enough to keep your business moving.
We help you put the right protection in place before there is a problem.
Every business stores its information differently, so we will first look at where your important data is held and what would be needed to recover it.
Depending on your requirements, we can back up individual files or create an image of an entire computer or server. A full system backup can include the operating system, applications, settings and data, making it much easier to recover after a serious failure.
Saving files in OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive or another cloud platform is useful, but synchronising data is not the same as having a separate, managed backup.
If a file is accidentally deleted, overwritten or damaged, that change may be synchronised across every connected device. The same can happen if ransomware gains access to your files.
A separate backup gives you another copy of your data that can be used to restore an earlier, unaffected version.
We also provide dedicated backup for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, including email and cloud-based files. You can learn more in our Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace cloud backup guide.
Backup and disaster recovery work together, but they are not quite the same:
A backup is a separate copy of your data or systems. It gives you something to restore if the original is deleted, damaged, encrypted or lost.
Disaster recovery is the plan for getting your systems, applications and people working again after a major incident.
Having a backup is an important starting point. A disaster recovery plan also considers what needs to be restored first, how quickly it needs to happen and what your team will do while recovery is taking place.
We will help you decide what needs protecting, how often it should be backed up and how long backups should be kept.
Once everything is in place, your backups can run automatically in the background. Our team can monitor their status, investigate failures and help recover your data when required.
Your data can be stored away from your main premises, so a problem affecting your office or equipment does not also destroy your backup.
Backups can run at agreed intervals, helping to reduce the amount of work that could be lost between copies.
Restore an individual document, a folder, an application or an entire computer or server, depending on the protection selected.
We can keep an eye on your backups rather than leaving you to check them yourself.
If something goes wrong, you have a local team to call who already understands your backup setup.
There is no single backup plan that is right for every organisation.
A small business with a few laptops will have very different requirements from a company running several servers and business-critical applications. We will look at what you have, where your data is stored and how long your business could realistically manage without it.
Two of the most important questions are:
Your answers help us decide how often backups should run and what type of recovery service you need. We then recommend a solution that fits the business rather than making it unnecessarily complicated.
Seeing a successful message does not always tell you whether every important system has been included or how long a full recovery would take.
We can review your current arrangements and help answer:
If those answers are unclear, it is worth reviewing your setup now rather than finding out during an emergency.
Whether you need to protect a handful of computers, an on-site server, virtual machines or business storage, Birmingham Telecom can help you put a reliable backup and recovery plan in place.
You will have one trusted team to help manage the service and support you if your data ever needs to be recovered.

Lee and the team are extremely helpful and we love our new phone system.
That depends on how frequently your data changes and how much work you could afford to lose. Some systems may only need a daily backup, while important business data may need protecting more frequently. We will agree a schedule based on how your business works.
Usually, yes. These services are designed mainly for storing, sharing and synchronising files. A separate backup provides additional protection against accidental deletion, damaged files, ransomware and other problems affecting the original account.
Yes. Depending on the server and the service selected, we can protect individual files, applications, virtual machines or the complete server environment.
Yes. Cloud backup can protect supported devices wherever they are being used, provided they can connect to the internet.
Yes. If only one file or folder has been lost, it may be possible to restore that item without recovering the entire computer or server.
Backup is an important part of recovering from ransomware, but it does not replace endpoint security, email security, patching or staff awareness. The strongest approach combines good cyber security with separate, recoverable backups.
Pricing depends on what needs protecting, the amount of data involved, how often backups run, how long they are retained and how quickly you need to recover. We will review your requirements and provide a clear quotation.
