Birmingham Telecom Named Crown Commercial Services Supplier

Birmingham Telecommunications Limited has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) RM6095 agreement.

The position makes Birmingham Telecommunications Limited one of the first UK infrastructure providers eligible to provide central government, local government and wider public sector buyers with Gigabit Capable Connectivity Services – an increasingly relevant requirement for public services organisations as discussions around widespread ‘gigabit capable’ access recently hit national headlines.

The agreement will give buyers in public sector organisations access to suppliers for a number of fibre optic infrastructure services, including both dark fibre and lit services. Birmingham Telecom has been approved, for the next four years, to provide public sector buyers with the provision of network infrastructure build services and managed network infrastructure services.

Continued Success

For public sector and public sector affiliated buyers, the agreement provides a continuously developing and innovative marketplace, comprising best-in-class suppliers providing the latest connectivity technologies. Other benefits include flexible contract lengths to meet the public sector’s changing technology needs, savings through lower costs or more efficient technologies and a requirements-based procurement system with no lot restrictions.

A word from our team

Managing Director, Brian Cormell, Birmingham Telecommunications Limited, said: “We’re delighted to have been named as a supplier on CCS’s RM6095 Gigabit Capable agreement and the opportunity to work even more closely with public sector organisations. It will mean we’re part of building and managing the UK infrastructure needed to deliver public data-intensive services at speed. As these organisations digitise their processes and services, reliable and robust connectivity will need to underpin every part of their network.”

CCS supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2018/19, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth £945m – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
